Pistachio SwapWhat is Pistachio Wallet?
Pistachio Wallet is the optional, self-custodial browser wallet inside Pistachio Swap. Your tokens are recorded on the blockchain; the wallet holds the keys used to authorize transactions. The stored vault is encrypted, and signing happens locally on your device.
Pistachio Swap is the swap interface. Pistachio Wallet is one way to use it. You can also connect a compatible external wallet for supported routes, without importing that wallet into Pistachio Wallet.
Self-custody also means responsibility: a malicious signature, compromised device, or lost recovery backup can put your funds at risk. A passkey does not make every transaction safe.
How to get started
- Open the app. Check that the address is
pistachioswap.com. Select Connect, then the Pistachio Wallet create or import option when available. - Check compatibility. Setup needs HTTPS and a browser and authenticator that support the required passkey encryption capability (WebAuthn PRF). Not every passkey provider supports it.
- Create or import a wallet. Follow the available setup flow. Import formats depend on the options enabled in the app. Do not enter secrets into an unfamiliar site.
- Make a recovery backup. Save and test the recovery method for your wallet type before funding it. Start with a separate wallet and a small amount.
How passkeys protect the wallet
Your passkey unlocks the encryption protecting a separate blockchain key. Sensitive actions, including signing and revealing recovery information, require a fresh authentication check. Review the network, recipient, amount, approvals, and fees before you approve.
You can manage verified passkeys in wallet settings and add a backup passkey on a compatible authenticator. Removing a passkey's access in the wallet does not delete that credential from your operating system or password manager.
Lock the wallet when you finish, especially on a shared device. Local signing and encryption reduce some exposure, but they do not replace device security or an independent security review.
A synced passkey is not a wallet backup
A passkey may sync through your credential provider while the browser's encrypted wallet data does not. Clearing browser data, changing devices, or losing the passkey can make the saved vault inaccessible.
- Recovery phrase: available for phrase-based wallets. Store it privately offline. Anyone who has it can control the wallet.
- Private-key wallets: do not have a recovery phrase. Keep the supported private-key or encrypted keystore backup secure, including any password it requires.
- Encrypted Pistachio backup: preserves the encrypted vault. Unlocking it still depends on a compatible passkey, matching site identity, and compatible encryption output.
Test the recovery path before relying on it. A second passkey is useful, but it is not a substitute for an independent recovery backup. There is no support-agent password reset for self-custodial keys.
